The Beast

The Beast is a role which is the main player/antagonist in Flee the Facility. A player can become the Beast at the beginning of the round. They are the main threat while playing the game as a Survivor.

At the beginning of every round, the beast is teleported to a waiting area during the 15 second head start granted to survivors. During this time, the beast is has to choose their Beast Power from four options: "Runner", "Seer", "Stalker" and "Hacker", of which only Runner can be selected. When the head start timer runs out, the Beast is teleported to the map, spawning in one of the many select spawn points/locations.

Objective[]

The Beast needs to capture all the Survivors by hitting them with their hammer and putting them in a Freeze Pod. To deplete a Survivor's health, the Beast must attach a rope to the chosen Survivor's gemstone (the Survivor must be hit in order to do this) and drag them to a Freeze Pod. Freeze Pods will drain the Survivor's health until they have no more health. They become frozen, and the player goes back to Camp Lapis. The Survivor's skin will turn blue once frozen, and that Freeze Pod can no longer be used. As of the 2024 Christmas Update, the Beast gets 200 XP and 25 credits for freezing one Survivor, which in the case of freezing all four survivors rewards the Beast with 100 credits and 800 XP.

The Beast also has a Beast Power called "Runner."

Runner allows the Beast to run faster than normal for three seconds.

If the Beast freezes all the Survivors in the round before any can escape, then the beast will win.

Disadvantages[]

  • Locked in a first-person perspective.
  • When the Beast jumps, their speed is significantly reduced for 0.8 seconds (formerly 1 second).
  • Unable to crawl.
  • When the Beast hits a Survivor, the Beast cannot walk/run around for three seconds. However, this can be bypassed.

Current theme. (Anselm Kreuzer - Horror Race)

  • A gemstone is strapped to the Beast's front, which emits light depending on the gemstone equipped. To a survivor, this will emit a heartbeat noise when nearby and play music when close enough.
  • While the Beast is using Runner, they are unable to jump.

Ditto, but extended.

Tips[]

  • The Beast should attempt to memorize all the maps. If they cannot, then simply the major parts of all the maps such as Computers, Exit Doors, and Freeze Pods.
  • If the Beast is at a close distance to a Survivor in a Freeze Pod, the Survivor will not lose health. This is known as "camping."
    • This can be bypassed if the Beast stands a certain distance away from the Survivor, while still being at a close range to the Freeze Pod. This is also, still, considered "camping".
  • The Beast can equip different gemstones to minimize the brightness of the glow emitting from their gemstone.
  • The Beast should always try to find as many computers as possible before other Survivors find them, so that the Beast can more easily predict where to look for Survivors.

Trivia[]

  • There are currently three unreleased Beast Powers, being "Hacker," "Seer," and "Stalker."
  • At an earlier point in time, the Beast could irreversibly drop the Hammer by pressing the Backspace key on PC. This was patched at a later date.
  • The Beast used to be able to enter vents if they applied a certain head collision glitch and, depending on the map, had a low FPS. Both this and the head collision glitch was patched at a later date.
  • There is a bug in the game that makes it so that even if you hit a player, they won't become knocked out. The community term for this is called "broken".
